The James D. Edgeworth Scholarship Fund is now in its sixth year
of awarding a scholarship to student-athletes in financial need who are
attending Boston College High School. Jim Edgeworth, was a founding
member and first president of this local. He attended B. C. High School
and Boston College, where he excelled in hockey. Jim continued to be
active in sports as a professional hockey referee while a Yellow Pages
Sales Rep.
In 1994 the Scholarship Committee created the CWA Local 1301 Educational Fund, to provide a $500 scholarship
to the spouse or child of an active or retired member of Local 1301.
Last year, Scott MacDonald son of Richard MacDonald of the Worcester
Sales office received this award.
An application form is attached. Applicants must include proof of
acceptance or enrollment in a full-time course of undergraduate study
at a college, university, community college, or accredited institution
for post-secondary vocational education. Applicants must complete and
return one signed application per year. DO NOT ATTACH SCHOOL
TRANSCRIPTS OR OTHER DOCUMENTS TO THIS APPLICATION. The applicant has
responsibility of seeing that the application is submitted by September 15TH.
The winners will be chosen by lottery at this years CWA Local 1301
Golf Outing. At the same time an alternate will be drawn. Applications
are available to all members in good standing.
